Craig Bellamy has declined an invitation by new NSW Blues coach Laurie Daley to be his assistant for the 2013 State of Origin series.

It is understood that Daley asked Bellamy during the lead up to the All Stars match in Brisbane on February 9th. The two have been friends since their playing days at the Canberra Raiders.

Bellamy advised Daley that his commitments at the Melbourne Storm would exclude him from taking part, however sources close to him also say his reluctance to coach against his Superstars in Slater, Cronk and Smith also played a large role. Bellamy is on record saying that he found it difficult to map out tactics that could foil his best players.
